This is the second of many articles that are coming your way regarding our new dashboard 😀
Our last post was an honest introduction. A refresh, if I may say so.
We went through all the new features as well as the old, albeit improved ones. Most importantly, we shared the reasoning behind such a major overhaul; YOU.
Having said that, we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your continued support as we forward in this endeavor.
Now that the complete rundown is out there, it is time to examine each feature in detail, starting with:
The Ultimate QR Code Beautifier
The name is loud and bold, but trust us, we mean it. The beautifier has been refined in order to provide LITERALLY endless possibilities to customize your QR codes.
Not only that, but we have also introduced the ability to create QR code design templates. They can be applied to a single QR code, multiple ones, a project or to your entire account.
Before jumping into the step-by-step tutorial, check this side-by-side comparison between a standard QR code and its fresh new look after customizing it with the beautifier:
Aside from the color and logo, you may have noticed that the shape of the QR code’s body and timing patterns (the 3 big squares) are different; less rigid and more organic. This changes EVERYTHING!
How to customize your QR Code
In order to customize a QR code, you need to create a QR code template first. Login to your account and follow these steps in order to do so:
- Click Manage project (SILVER and GOLD users) or QR setup (FREE users),
- click QR code template within the Design tab,
- click the plus icon, and
- name the QR code template.
Basic tools include:
- Apply the QR code template to a project or to the entire account,
- choose the QR code’s error correction (L, M, Q or H),
- choose the color of the QR code/canvas, and
- add a logo or image (SVG, PNG, JPG or GIF).
You can access more customization options by selecting Advanced tools from the dropdown menu. They include:
- Apply a color gradient to the QR code,
- choose the color and shape of the QR code’s timing patterns, and
- choose the shape of the QR code’s body.
Every change you make will be displayed automatically and you will be notified if the QR code is readable or not. However, it is important that you scan it from your end using whichever mobile device/QR code reader you have at your disposal.
When you are ready, click Save and apply changes and you will be redirected to the QR code design templates list.
After that, follow these steps in order to apply a QR code template to a single QR code:
- Click QR setup,
- click QR code template within the Design tab, and
- click Apply.
And there you have it; you now know how to customize your QR code! But still, one might wonder…
Why customize a QR Code?
Going back to the comparison between the standard and the fully customized QR code, it is obvious that the latter is more attractive. I take that back; it is attractive, period. You want to customize a QR code precisely because you want it to stand out from the rest.
QR codes are barcodes, but they are also so much more. They grant access to cool and unique content that is only available through them. Call to actions can get the message across, but a customized QR code will sure catch your audience before that happens.
One last thing to take into consideration is the fact that messaging apps are using proprietary codes with recognizable designs. This of course has had an impact on QR codes, boosting their awareness and, most importantly, their appearance.
